Ten of Swords

Additional deck interpretation:

The Ten of Swords points you towards a path of overcoming loss, sadness and perhaps even depression as you continue your journey through the seventy-eight passageways of growth.

This is the level on your continuous cycle of change when you deal with overwhelming mental exhaustion, self-pity, the treacherous actions of others, or hitting rock bottom - the time you can see only the terrifying darkness and do not notice the dawn of a new day.

You may have experienced a loss that was extremely painful and caused mental pain. An entire dream was shattered, destined to never reach fulfillment. You came to a sad realization that everything had gone as far as it could and there was no way to go back and rekindle this dream.

The Ten of Swords is also called the "stabbed-in-the-back card" and is associated with treachery and abusive relationships: the time when you are betrayed by someone close to you who is a friend or lover; a would-be-enemy who works against you or someone who thinks they can walk all over you with their dirty boots.

This Sword also speaks to the difficult side of personal and professional relationships such as a forced change that alters your life, or the end of a relationship, or of a separation, divorce, or the loss of a friendship.

The Ten of Swords may appear to tell you something about yourself or tell you something about an important event that may occur. Do you need to reach out to someone and release the pain you have been holding onto, or are you forced to face an issue that is mentally getting the best of you?

You may need a healer to rescue you, help purify your mind, banish this extreme psychological suffering.

Numerical Number 10: This number represents completion, or starting over with a new beginning that is ready to grow into something beautiful when you make the right adjustments to transform your life.

It consists of: 1 (a new beginning is ready to sprout) + 0 (the beginning point of your journey when you are ready to experience something new and leave all limitations because you trust in a higher power) = 1 (a new beginning).

The Ten of Swords is related to the end of a cycle and a new beginning that you cannot see right now.

The Element of Air: The Ten of Swords is associated with the planet Uranus (unexpected changes) and the zodiac sign of Gemini. The combination of Uranus in Gemini causes your mind to go haywire because of an emotional overload or cut-off.

Probable Outcome: You might be experiencing the difficult ending of a situation. Perhaps a forced change is altering your lifestyle, a relationship just ended, you are finalizing a separation, divorce, or the loss of a friend. Or you were betrayed by a friend, lover, or someone who works against you because they want you to fail.

You might be in an abusive relationship that is getting stronger with age.

Maybe you need help from a professional because you have hit rock bottom and are stuck in self-pity, causing depression and mental pain.

You may be dealing with work-related stress, chronic fatigue, psychological problems, back problems, an illness, be laid up in the hospital, or recovering from the death of someone close to you.

Perhaps you need to deal with bankruptcy, legal problems, or are struggling with a failing business.

Possible Outcome: You have accepted a painful ending and are feeling a relief from the mental pain you were experiencing or are seeing a professional counselor who is helping you get over your painful situation or depression.

You are recovering from hitting rock bottom and not stuck in self-pity or you decided to leave an abusive relationship.

You are in the in process of ending a relationship (separation, divorce, friendship) and are not ready to start new relationships.

You are recovering from the stress and pressures at work, returning to work after taking time to heal from an illness or getting help to overcome chronic fatigue, psychological problems, or back problems.

You are recovering from the death of someone close to you or recovering from bankruptcy, legal problems, or a struggling business.

Then again, you might not be able to channel the Ten of Swords' energies into your life. If this is the case, then you are having a hard time making the changes you need to make.
