Six of Cups

“The only thing a person can ever really do is keep moving forward. Take that big leap forward without hesitation, without once looking back. Simply forget the past and forge toward the future." - Alyson Noel

Element of water power: The Six of Cups represents purification of the body and soul through pleasurable interaction with the beloved, experiencing the joy of nostalgia or the comfort of home and childlike innocence. The element of water reflected in cups, also suggests traditions and or reunions and feeling security and comfort.

The Six of Cups invites you to feel the power through expression of emotions and to harness the transformational power of healing naturally.

The Six of Cups suggests that you connect with family matters or planning. Family matters may be old memories from your childhood that can resurface once you have your own responsibilities. Taking heed from what you learnt from your childhood, perhaps you learn to become more aware of how you must handle things now.

You are reminded to grow in the cycles of life through expression of past emotions but to remain in the present.

Dive deeply into the pond of emotions, surrender to the bonds of old restrictions and trauma wounds. Embrace these emotions, perhaps cry, and then breathe it out, reclaim your space and heal from the past.

There is a risk that you have to take, to go through the old traditions to allow yourself deep emotional purification and renewal. The risk also requires you to feel joy now in all that life offers you. Expressing gratitude moves you into the natural flow on your personal journey. The more you realize this, the more you will be receiving what you are seeking.

At times of Imbalance: The Six of Cups also reflects feelings of loss for what was once precious but now forgotten or disregarded. It is important to realize that you may have to stop yourself from fixating on loss and to move your focus towards spiritual insights gained. By shifting focus, you may be able to regain the feeling of nostalgia, not necessarily for the same thing but for what you have learnt from that experience. This card may also remind you to become aware, that you take note of what you have and that you nurture it daily.

Too much emotional expression may also cause emotional drowning.

Medicine: Make a point of taking the time to experience pleasure, however you may define it. Practice this little exercise.

Sit down comfortably and breathe to relax yourself. Pay attention to opening out your chest area. Now concentrate on your breathing, feel it flowing in and out of your body, feel it, cool and refreshing.

Now each time you draw in breath, draw in love as well. Connect with the all-embracing, infinite, unconditional love that flows through life in each and every day, and enjoy!

Mantra: I am now open to experiencing all the joys of love on all levels.
