King of Cups

"No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path." - Buddha

Element of Water power: The King of Cups denotes emotions, emotional influence, creativity, and the unconscious. The power of the water element is masculine and represents the ability to control or to restrain your emotions and be fully in charge of your feelings and impulses.

The King of Cups represents a balance between the masculine and the feminine energy or intellect and emotions. The balance indicates a strong relationship between understanding and feeling. Self-Mastery is required here.

Self-Mastery requires that you are able to balance your emotions and to control them through a deeper knowledge and awareness of yourself. During times of great challenge you would normally be thrown off balance, but you are reminded that you should act like the King of Cups.

Do not rage or react in despair. Learn to TEMPER the state of your emotions, so that you can progress forward in the present moment. Learn to EVALUATE yourself and then determine how you can create a stronger awareness of your internal state.

Take responsibility for your actions and self -understanding. Enhance the harmony within yourself and you will be able to radiate this outward in your environment.

At times of Imbalance: You may feel volatile, or emotionally manipulate a situation because of your moodiness. The balance is overthrown and you do not handle the situation in your usual way. You may now lack compassion which is out of your character.

While you are normally very controlled with your emotions, you may have become controlling with others and emotionally vindictive. If you are unable to find your own balance, stop and step back. Seek help if you need to do so. Regain your internal balance and only then proceed forward.

Medicine: You may find yourself as a mediator or a peacemaker. The King of Cups shows that you are a sensitive leader and that you are careful with the way you respond to other's emotional needs. Remain mature when dealing with negative energy.

Mantra: I feel safe within my inner balance.
