The cards in their earlier forms, such as the various Marseilles tarot decks, are simplicity personified. I am seeking simplicity and a regress from the frantic, frenetic world I witness around me. The cards remind me that simplicity is not only possible, it is apparent, just as is the frenetic. Focus, vision, attention, and intention are all components of what is apparent at any given moment.

The tarot cards are a conduit for intuition and creativity. The cards seem to naturally lead me to turn inward and to reach towards a more self-directed guidance and away from the reliance on outward forms of inspiration, entertainment, amusement. By learning to listen to and to heed intuition, self-directed guidance, and moving away from contemporary forms of amusement, I have come to a place where I can more fully concentrate on the wealth to be found within me.

The cards are a wonderful "meditative" tool: they allow me to "shut out and shut down". When I am divorced from all that goes on around me, my levels of concentration and connection to the universe are incredible. The cards are not akin to meditation that transcends the physical body. No, these tools assist me to create space where I can MORE fully inhabit my body! Inhabit my body in comfort and confidence. My mental processes and my physical processes come completely together in the fullness of the moment.

The cards have assisted me in developing a more finite and more cohesive spirituality. I have been forced to examine in detail what I hold as belief and at faith while studying the symbols on the cards and their obvious Christian beginnings.
