The High Priestess represents the path of intuition and meeting the Higher Self... The Higher Self is your intuitive guide that resides inside of you. The Story About Persephone
In Greek mythology, Persephone was a beautiful young woman of child-bearing age who was loved and adored by her mother, family and friends. Persephone was the daughter of Zeus, the king of the gods. Persephone’s mother was Demeter, the goddess of agriculture. One day, Persephone went to collect flowers when, suddenly without warning, the earth opened, and Hades, the god of the underworld, snatched her away. Hades was so captivated by her beauty that he wanted her for himself and carried her off to the underworld to be his wife.
Persephone’s mother, Demeter was so broken-hearted that she wandered day and night, looking for her daughter until she found out what had happened to her. Demeter was so hurt that she withdrew herself into a deep depression and neglected her duties as the goddess of agriculture. The earth ceased to be fertile, and there was no harvest, causing famine all over the earth.
Zeus was not going to let this continue so he sent Hermes down to the underworld to see Hades. Hermes, the son of Zeus, known as the messenger of the gods, told Hades that he had to release Persephone. Hades did not want to send her back; he had a plan, which was to give Persephone a pomegranate to eat because he knew the pomegranate seeds would bind her to him and the underworld forever.
Zeus demanded that his daughter had to leave the underworld to be with her mother for half the year, from the months of March through August. During the months of March through August, Demeter looked after the agriculture, and made sure the crops were sown, cultivated, and harvested.
When the constellation, Virgo leaves the sky in the month of September, Persephone returns back into the underworld, and Demeter abandons her agricultural duties. Then the earth lays waiting until Persephone reappears in the spring.
My Interpretation Of The High Priestess:
Did you know the High Priestess is your channel of communication between your conscious and subconscious? She is your Higher Self, the smarter you! Did you ever go against your inner voice that protects you from making the wrong choices? Did you ever hear this message from your inner voice?
My gut feeling was urging caution and restraint, reminding me of valuable lessons that I had learned in the past but now forgotten! I heard this voice say, “I knew I shouldn’t have done that! I knew it wouldn’t work out! I did not listen to the mixed signals I was receiving between my heart and my mind, between my intuition and my first gut feeling, and now it’s too late!”
Always remember, the High Priestess calls for the balancing of logic (your mind) and emotions (your heart) with your intuition (your sixth sense). Sometimes the facts that you seek evade you. The facts hide from you, but try as they might, the subconscious will always reveal them, releasing your secret. Quiet the raging thoughts of your mind and strive to hear the voice inside of you and the answers to your questions will manifest.
Those times when you feel thwarted, incapable of penetrating the mystery, overwhelmed with impatience and walled in by seeming nonsense, those are the times when you will commit the fatal error of ignoring your intuition. Your first instinct about something usually perceives the truth. Once you understand this, the lucidity of all the rest resolves.
The High Priestess keeps your secrets, for only you know what your subconscious signals to you. Silence your mind enough to listen to your intuitive guide, and she will reveal the secret to your own happiness. But your intuitive guide absolutely requires your unfailing trust.
If The High Priestess appears in your reading, this is the time to inquire into your true feelings, to delineate your thoughts and assessments of your life. The High Priestess points toward the subconscious, the understanding of higher truths through dreams and intuition and the connection to the spiritual forces within. The High Priestess is the intuitive clairvoyant and her role is to create harmony and forge your inner balance.
The Reverse Meaning Of The High Priestess:
The reversed meaning represents the secret has been revealed to you and you are not in the dark anymore. You have received the answer to your question!
