The Seven Deadly Sins Of Wrath, Envy, Sloth, Vanity, Greed, Gluttony And Lust

By Safina :: :: 17 comments

The Seven of Cups represents perfection, imagination, delusion, temptation, fantasy, weakness and regrets.

A woman is fantasizing and daydreaming about the seven golden cups which represent the seven perfect deadly sins which are: wrath, envy, sloth, vanity, greed, gluttony and lust!

If you look closer at the card, there is woman on the right, pointing her right hand at the golden cups (the right side represents the present), and her feet are touching the water.

Water represents emotions, but also is connected to the subconscious, unconscious, our spirit and intuition.

Is the woman on the right a mermaid or sea goddesses, or is the woman just fantasizing? Did you know that mermaids are known as the guardians and protectors of the sea, and will connect to your inner voice and your soul, if you call them for help?

Mermaids also represent something very deep, which may be locked away in your secret closet of mysteries. The secret closet represents the secret part of yourself that you are not willing to talk about. The woman is praying and asking for help to connect to the seven golden cups, which she longs to have.

Is the dark haired woman delusional or is she dreaming? She has her back to you because she is tempted to do something that she will later regret. If the dark haired woman follows through with what she is thinking, it will cost her more than she will receive because her delusional fantasies will lead her into the seven deadly sins of wrath, envy, sloth, vanity, greed, gluttony and lust!

Here are seven short stories about the seven deadly sins:

Soulrebel83 |

The first golden cup represents wrath and a person that cannot shed their skin to heal. They hate themselves and others and have no love in their heart, only hatred. The dark haired woman hangs on to her anger, which gets stronger because she does not know how to shed her skin and heal. She is like wine that ferments and ages and becomes more aggressive with anger. Wrath is one of the seven deadly sins.

Michael Flippo |

The second golden cup represents envy and the dark haired woman is jealous of others and their lifestyle and success. She wants what belongs to others because she loves possessions rather than being happy for another person’s success. Envy is one of the seven deadly sins.

Shadhavar |

The third golden cup represents the dark haired woman’s fantasy with her goals that give her a false, unrealistic sense of security. She is slothful and puts off what she should be doing for her family. She is being idle and not accomplishing what she needs to do; she is dreaming about it instead, because she loves being lazy. Sloth is one of the seven deadly sins.

Person Is Missing Something—Too Vain To See What They Are Missing

The fourth golden cup represents the dark haired woman’s prideful soul, suggesting that she cannot admit her vanity or her faults. She is in a delusion about herself importance with no respect to others. She has an excess of pride, and tries to conceal her faults. Vanity is one of the seven deadly sins.

Greed—Wanting More Than You Need

The fifth golden cup represents the dark haired woman is a hoarder. She guards everything and is very selfish and greedy. She wants wealth rather than love, and she wants to gain more than he needs. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins.

Fotosmilie |

The sixth golden cup represents gluttony and the dark haired woman wants to hoard her treasures, and also wants more than she needs. Gluttony also suggests that she likes to overindulge when she eats and drinks, and she does not want to share with others. Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins.

Skypixel |

The seventh golden cup represents the woman’s lustful fantasy and temptation, her intense desire or sexual craving. Her lust represents her pleasures but do not merit any value or love. Lust is one of the seven deadly sins.

    Hello Safina,
I read your blog and I couldn’t stop thinking that even the great numerologists and Mediums and all the Tarot readers must upgrade their knowledge. THERE IS NO SIN.... THERE IS NO ONE WHO WILL JUDGE US !
All what you listed as SINS are tools we all used to be able to live in polarity, to learn what it feels like to be like this and like that... We all know now that these are tools used in low vibrations and that our task is to go higher frequencies in order to actually SEE how low are those tools vibrations...

(The Empress): What Lesson Did You Learn In The Present?

The Empress is connected to the planet Venus which represents love and what we desire and want the most. Venus represents growth, beauty, love, and harmony. She is the fertile Mother of the Earth and connected to Cupid or Eros in (Greek Mythology). Cupid is her son, and is the youngest of the gods and the offspring of Venus – the goddess of love and Mars – the god of war.

Venus represents the pleasure we share with other people, and in return, we hope to receive the same growth, beauty and love.

Concerned with love, romance and harmony throughout the complex strands of our web of emotional attachments, marriages, unions and other close relationships, Venus asks nothing more than to spread happiness and tenderness — all the while teaching us how to love and appreciate others and all that we possess.

The Present: You cry, “I have not thought about this person for a long time, I thought I was over this, and the healing took a long time, yet, I am having this senseless dream, about this person, why!” Your subconscious is trying to clean the past out of your mental attic with scrubbing bubbles. The compelling, strange nature of dreams makes it seem as though they must be purposeful, and so they are.

You dreamed about a person that broke your heart, and you thought you were over it, but you had a dream, in which you were called upon to save this person. By saving this person, in your dream, you were able to forgive them for hurting you, in the past.

The dream was cleansing a part of your subconscious memory that had become polluted and burdened and that simply had to go. You learned forgiveness when you had this dream, and you were able to move on, and finally let go!

Well put, Nicole! I was thinking the same thing reading that. We need contrast in order to see what it is we truly want. Life is about abundance in all things. All the great wisdom teachers have said it. Apparently it is not common knowledge as of yet.
Strangely, this card arrived in my email box right after I was wondering about the seven deadly sins and how hey relate to our divine right to have abundance. So, I attracted this card. I cannot be mad about that. But it reminds me that perception is reality. If you believe you are a sinner- than you are. I am not a sinner. God bless everyone.

I knew I was living in Envy, but until I read this post I didn’t realize how much the others were negatively impacting my life. They all do connect on one aspect, though, of coveting. Wanting more. In my case, not knowing if I can get it and not wanting to be judged. ‘Tis easier to sit about and whine than to actually try. Well, my goal, as I approach 50, is to finally get off my tookus and live the life that I envy. Thanks for sending this card to my email today. I really needed it.

I love your site but it’s hard to find some things. I’ve been looking for the six of cups and can’t seem to find it. Did a search for it and still couldn’t find it.

You have clickable links for the Major Arcana but not for the Minors. Why is that?

Sarafina – you have articles for all the cards except the Six of Cups.
At least I think you have articles for them all but I haven’t read everything yet. And why do you call everyone “babe”?

      Hello Babe,

Because I love my clients, they are the “Babes!”

Not sure why the 6 of cups did not get posted! I found this for you!

The Six of Cups – Nostalgia – I Feel Like My Old Friend Is Coming Back

The Six of Cups represents nostalgia, which suggests that you are holding onto the past or going through regrets of the past concerning an old relationship or friendship. The shadow of the past is toying with your emotions, and it may be the exact time of the year when you parted with your relationship or friendship.

You may feel a silent awareness about a past experience of high impact. This is a time when your emotions are flaring up because you are examining your life, and still feeling the sting about someone you never had a chance to experience fully.

You start to examine your life and realize you finally had the strength to move on. It took a long time, but at this time of the year you still go through these stinging effects of regret and feel that you will never fully understand what could have been.

The Six of Cups also represents an old friend coming back into your life. You are wondering if the relationship will be new and different, or end up the same way it did before.

You are not willing to repeat the past with its errors because you have learned about your personal weaknesses that you did not see clearly. You let your heart rule and never expected your lover and friend to vanish and leave you looking back at what could have been.

The Six of Cups also represents your soul – mate from a past life. The soul – mate will return to your life unexpectedly. This is a person that you feel a special bond with because they are connected to your soul’s path.

The soul – mate experience is one of the most difficult relationships to let go of. It takes a lot of hard work and self – respect to finally let go and understand why this person came into your life.
I feel that we have many soul – mates that are connected to our soul’s path, and if we are not ready and confident, they are going to bring out your flaws and teach you something about yourself.

I also feel there is unfinished business between you and the soul – mate from the past life you had together. I feel the soul – mate is personally connected to the experiences you still need to learn that will make you a stronger person.

This may seem harsh, but I feel it is true. There is still something that you needed to get right in this lifetime to complete your soul’s journey. The painful part of the soul – mate connection happens when they leave, as you struggle to understand why they leave and why you had to learn a new lesson.

But after they leave, and you find healing, you will be able to put the last piece in the puzzle to complete your soul’s journey. You learned about your weakness that prevented the relationship from working and what you had to change.

Sometimes the soul – mate returns to stay and when this happens, you are both ready to be with each other because the vibration is correct and both are challenged to embrace your strengths, not the fears of the past.

Both have worked on their flaws and weaknesses and corrected them. The vibration is very strong for everything to work out this time around.
