The Minor Arcana represent your choices and actions throughout the realization of your destiny. The Cups represent your personal outlook with respect to your emotional feelings and your tendency to think with your heart rather than with your head...
This includes the connection to love, friendships and relationships which exert such strong pull on your decisions. You may be spontaneous or slow in your reactions, depending on what your heart relays to you...
The Birth Of Aphrodite
In Mythic Tarot, you meet Aphrodite (the goddess of love) and she is rising from the sea. In the Ace of Cups, there is a storm bubbling in the sea, the storm represents the birth of Aphrodite.
Aphrodite holds an enormous golden cup that represents a sudden spiritual awakening, a message that will be revealed to you about your love life! This awakening is connected to love, and it reflects the time when you are ready to open up your heart, with giving and receiving of unconditional love.
The golden cup represents the treasure you are going to meet when your heart opens, and it signifies the beginning of your journey, a time that you are willing to risk it all to fall in love again!
Psyche And Eros (Cupid + Venus)
In Mythic Tarot, the Cups represent the beginning of your journey and the time when you are ready to open your heart, and the story of Psyche (a mortal princess) and Eros (the god of love, Aphrodite’s son). Eros (Cupid) and Psyche (Venus) represent the love story that foretells their struggles and trust issues that arise between them.
Aphrodite (Eros’s mother) was vindictive and extremely jealous of Psyche’s beauty and spiteful because Psyche was a mortal woman and she was not. Aphrodite ordered her son (Eros) to cast a love spell on Psyche, making her fall in love with the ugliest creature on earth, but the love spell boomeranged, and Eros fell in love with Psyche and they joined together as husband and wife.
Meanwhile, Psyche’s jealous sister visits and wrecks the bond between Eros and Psyche. Psyche’s sister influences Psyche to betray her husband, causing Eros to loose trust in Psyche. Eros leaves his wife because his heart was broken, and he was unable to trust his wife again.
Psyche wanders the earth looking for Eros, miserable and heartbroken, unable to find him. Then one day, she went to see Aphrodite and asked for her help. Aphrodite told Psyche that she would help her, but she had to complete a list of difficult tasks. After Psyche completed the tasks, she was also told that she had to give up being a mortal and become immortal. This was the deal that Aphrodite wanted, that would seal the deal and allow her to reconnect with Eros. Psyche and Eros reconnected and they had a family, Voluptas (pleasure) and Hedone (Bliss).

The Energies Of The Cups
The Cups are emotional, sensitive, intuitive and compassionate. When they feel emotional pain and sadness, they may show how they feel or hide it. Respect is very important to the Cups, and if they do not feel respected by you, they will walk away. They do not like being taken advantage of, and they dislike people that go too far.
Cups are busy, fun-loving people, natural born healers with many friends, but they need to know what is going on around them at all times to feel secure. They are generous people that will give you their time and energy as long as you are honest with them. Otherwise, they will not trust you, and they will send out their antennas to investigate, and they will not stop until they know what’s going on.
Cups never hold back until they achieve what they set out to do because they do not see their limitations, and they cannot be told what they cannot do. Cups are creative, capable of running the show and of inspiring listeners. They are independent of others and need to control their environment at all times to feel safe.
Their personal domain brings them emotional security, trust, love, and happiness. They will welcome you into their life and their home because they are good people with caring, true and meaningful intentions. If you hurt the Cup, they will seek revenge, it may be like fighting a relentless tsunami that can destroys anything in their path.

My Interpretation Of The Ace Of Cups
The “Ace of Cups” represents the new beginning of love, joy, or a spiritual awakening. The spiritual awakening represents a message that will be revealed to you about an impending life change. This awakening is connected to love, and it reflects a time of giving and receiving of unconditional love. The Ace represents emotional happiness, rekindling of an existing relationship, a love affair, a new love interest, marriage, fertility, or the time when you adopt a child, the time of opening your heart chakra, and the beginning of great possibilities.
The Ace represents a positive time of clarity to make a decision about your situation. Your heart may be pulling at you to stay in the relationship, but your head is telling you to move on. This is a time when you may need to make a choice so you can find balance in your life. You may be thinking it’s time to start a new relationship and let go of the past because it was not working for you.
I also call the Ace’s the controlling cards of the Tarot, because they control the path. They indicate the seed of love, and your heart opening up, ready to take a new chance on love. The Ace represents your new beginning and new direction connected to love, and your new start of a long awaited dream.

I hope you have enjoyed the Ace of Cups. Please let me know if you are ready to open your heart again and start a new relationship, or if you are rekindling an old relationship.
