Before I started reading the Tarot, I was told by my first metaphysical teacher, that I had to sleep with my cards, under my pillow, for three nights to charge them. So, I did sleep with the cards for three nights, but the three nights turned into one year. I will tell you that during that year, I had dreams about Tarot cards every night, and in the beginning they kept me awake!
That was the year I started seeing symbols and colors, and as I remember, I would fall asleep seeing symbols and wake up seeing rivers of colors, sometimes my metaphysical teacher, would send me the color violet, to wake me up. Spirit was teaching me what symbols and colors meant, and I felt like I was in spiritual symbology school.

I Had Dreams About The Tarot Cards Every Night, And In The Beginning They Kept Me Awake!
Finally, when I started reading the cards, I started using the “Three Card Spread” which represents pulling three cards to find out information about the past, present and the future. After I was good at reading the Three Card Spread, I started using the “Celtic Cross Tarot Spread” which represents pulling ten cards. The Celtic Cross Tarot spread is very detailed, representing the past, present and the future and takes you through the ten cards, step by step, until you reach the final card, the outcome, and the answer to your question.
I tried many different layouts, but the one that worked the best for me was the Tarot layout by Josephine Ellershaw (The Celtic Cross Spread). She created an addition to the spread and added a reader’s fan, which represents pulling more cards, after the outcome card that provides additional information.
Sometimes the last card will not give you the answer you are looking for, so, when that happens, I pull another three cards to complete the spread. I have learned that spirit is connected to the number three, so I named the additional cards, “Spiritual Timing.” The Spiritual Timing Cards are numbered 11, 12 and 13, and represent additional information about the situation and the timing.
I also learned that spirit always shows timings, using the number 3, and I know this because every time I have had a vision, in the past, spirit always predicted what was going to happen using the number 3. Later, in my book, I explained the visions I had, and how the number 3 represented the timing, and the outcome of the situation.
If you add the numbers 11 + 12 + 13 together, you get the sum of 36. Then adding the numbers 3 + 6 together, you get the sum of 9. The number 9 indicates the completion of a cycle and attainment, but with the closure of the 9, we understand we also face renewal, for there is no ending without a beginning. The number 9 brings the end of a journey, or should I say the new beginning before you, and hopefully the answer that you are looking for. Also, if you divide the number 9 by the number 3, you get the sum of 3 again, “Spiritual Timing.”
Lastly, let’s talk about shuffling the cards. Here is the method that I use, which works for me: I ask spirit to guide me in finding the answers that I need, and I start to shuffle the cards until they feel really heavy, and when I get to that point, I know that I am close, and what usually happens to me is that my right arm locks, and will not let me shuffle any longer, that is the point when I stop the shuffle.
You will need to try different methods of shuffling the cards, and see what works for you. Everyone is different, just use the method you feel comfortable and secure with. Once you feel comfortable, start exploring the “Three Card Spread” and “The Celtic Cross Tarot Spread.
