I Slept With My Tarot Cards For One Year

By Safina :: :: 8 comments

Before I started reading the Tarot, I was told by my first metaphysical teacher, that I had to sleep with my cards, under my pillow, for three nights to charge them. So, I did sleep with the cards for three nights, but the three nights turned into one year. I will tell you that during that year, I had dreams about Tarot cards every night, and in the beginning they kept me awake!

That was the year I started seeing symbols and colors, and as I remember, I would fall asleep seeing symbols and wake up seeing rivers of colors, sometimes my metaphysical teacher, would send me the color violet, to wake me up. Spirit was teaching me what symbols and colors meant, and I felt like I was in spiritual symbology school.

I Had Dreams About The Tarot Cards Every Night, And In The Beginning They Kept Me Awake!

Finally, when I started reading the cards, I started using the “Three Card Spread” which represents pulling three cards to find out information about the past, present and the future. After I was good at reading the Three Card Spread, I started using the “Celtic Cross Tarot Spread” which represents pulling ten cards. The Celtic Cross Tarot spread is very detailed, representing the past, present and the future and takes you through the ten cards, step by step, until you reach the final card, the outcome, and the answer to your question.

I tried many different layouts, but the one that worked the best for me was the Tarot layout by Josephine Ellershaw (The Celtic Cross Spread). She created an addition to the spread and added a reader’s fan, which represents pulling more cards, after the outcome card that provides additional information.

Sometimes the last card will not give you the answer you are looking for, so, when that happens, I pull another three cards to complete the spread. I have learned that spirit is connected to the number three, so I named the additional cards, “Spiritual Timing.” The Spiritual Timing Cards are numbered 11, 12 and 13, and represent additional information about the situation and the timing.

I also learned that spirit always shows timings, using the number 3, and I know this because every time I have had a vision, in the past, spirit always predicted what was going to happen using the number 3. Later, in my book, I explained the visions I had, and how the number 3 represented the timing, and the outcome of the situation.

If you add the numbers 11 + 12 + 13 together, you get the sum of 36. Then adding the numbers 3 + 6 together, you get the sum of 9. The number 9 indicates the completion of a cycle and attainment, but with the closure of the 9, we understand we also face renewal, for there is no ending without a beginning. The number 9 brings the end of a journey, or should I say the new beginning before you, and hopefully the answer that you are looking for. Also, if you divide the number 9 by the number 3, you get the sum of 3 again, “Spiritual Timing.”

Lastly, let’s talk about shuffling the cards. Here is the method that I use, which works for me: I ask spirit to guide me in finding the answers that I need, and I start to shuffle the cards until they feel really heavy, and when I get to that point, I know that I am close, and what usually happens to me is that my right arm locks, and will not let me shuffle any longer, that is the point when I stop the shuffle.

You will need to try different methods of shuffling the cards, and see what works for you. Everyone is different, just use the method you feel comfortable and secure with. Once you feel comfortable, start exploring the “Three Card Spread” and “The Celtic Cross Tarot Spread.

    Hello Safina,
I just kinda stumbled upon your blog and I must say I love your post! I actually did some studying with Josephine Ellershaw and she is amazing. She taught me all that I know about tarot. I like your idea about shuffling the cards. When I shuffle I try to focus and center myself. I almost meditate on the cards and ask the question in my mind. I have yet to have a reading lead me astray! I also read for friends and they think my readings are right in line. I am trying to work on my gift of dream interpretations. I dream a lot and I am never sure what to make of them. When I see my dream unfolding before me then I am shocked and people are asking how did you know that was going to happen..

Safina – I just read your story & it sent chills. I too slept w/my tarot deck under my pillow! Not for a year but many months. 3 has been my number for the last 20 yrs. I started w/3 card spread (past/present/future). I am now trying to find the ‘right’ spread for me. I would shuffle the cards till they felt think. I constantly doubt myself w/my readings, thinking I’m just “making it fit” After reading what you said I am going to try really hard not to doubt what I read. Thank you for your story!!!

I have a question about my Tarot cards. I haven’t touched them in a very long time but decided the other night to do a quick reading for myself. I feel I either had a very confused mind while shuffling (by the answers received) or my cards weren’t charged... So I decided to put them in my pillow case and sleep with them. Now I need to say that before this I had ZERO trouble EVER falling asleep and recently been having very disturbing, disgusting dreams, such as my partner cheating lOTS, me cheating, my friends daughters incest with each other, fighting, violence and so on... they were more nightmares. Since I put my cards under my pillow two nights ago, I have had a terrible time falling asleep and either I’m ‘dreaming’ I’m waking up A LOT, or I am waking up A LOT... but I’m not sure. I saw 1pm last night before falling asleep the night before was 1230. I feel I am constantly waking up. I usually can’t keep my eyes open past 10:30 on a LATE night and since placing my cards in my pillow case,NO MORE BAD DREAMS, no dreams at all that I can remember.... not only that, but I feel great, not tired at all???? I usually need at least 8 hrs sleep EVERY night or I’m a bear!!!! Do you have any thoughts or insight on this for me please? I’m just trying to understand. OH and when I wake up (or think I wake up) throughout the night, I seem to ALWAYS look out my window at the moon. Still have a hard time getting OUT of bed in the morn, but I don’t think that will ever change!! LOL..
Thanks for any advice/insight you can provide!!

Safina-LOL, well looks like you had to contain the energies of your cards as they were keeping you awake. I went through that too with all the color visions I saw, but I loved it. Because everynight was a new experience!

not only that, but I feel great, not tired at all???? I usually need at least 8 hrs sleep EVERY night or I’m a bear!!!!

Safina-Well I need 8-9 hours of sleep every night too, so I know what you mean! The bear! Ha Ha...

Safina-Change your pillow, this will help, I have heard that “My Pillow” is the best, try that!

898410 931183An intriguing discussion is worth comment. I feel which you need to write a lot more on this subject, it may well not be a taboo topic but typically folks are not enough to speak on such topics. Towards the next. Cheers 431534
