We often feel like we should take on more and more responsibility, get more done, or acquire more things. Yet what we often don’t ask ourselves enough is, what can I let go of today? Believe it or not, this is a very important question to ask each and everyday!
Too many of us are carrying around beliefs, patterns and emotions that are not serving us. Many of us are holding onto too many physical objects as well. When we have too many of these old energetic, emotional and physical things in our lives, they end up weighing us down and holding us back from moving forward in our lives.
Simply deciding that you are ready to release your negative feelings toward your father can feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Donating those old clothes that you haven’t worn in years can feel really good, while also freeing up room for clothes that suit the person you are now in your life.
It can be a very healthy process to ask yourself at the start of each day what you can let go of today. Some days, you might want to release the simplest of things, such as deciding to clean out the fridge. Other days, you might feel ready to let go of the bigger stuff. This daily practice can be extremely uplifting and will set energy in motion so that positive change can happen.
The problem with holding onto things is that we gain attachment to them, and attachment holds us back and weighs us down. By holding on to things that no longer serve you or aren no longer part of who you are, you are carrying that weight everywhere you go. It is only by letting go that you can live the life you really want to live.
