Inspiring Client of the Month

By Alison Day :: :: No comments

This month, the story Angela, from the U.K, has to share is one of courage, resilience and sheer positive determination.

In the time I have worked with Angela and become friends, her ability to persist and not give in has always impressed me.

This is why I chose the Strength card for her, for through adversity she always has the strength of character and mental and physical strength to move forward with her life, and at times against what may have seemed insurmountable odds.

Yet for all her strength what I find most endearing about her, is her humbleness and kindness.

Whatever you may be struggling with at this time, especially if you too are learning to cope with living with an illness or disability, I hope that Angela’s willingness to share her story with us gives you hope and faith that life is still precious and beautiful.

So without further ado, I pass you over to Angela.

‘In 2002 I was first introduced to the world of Alison Day.  I ordered an email reading and to this day I still have this to refer to.  My relationship with Alison has been a journey in itself and one that you could say was “meant to be” “fate” or “just a fluke”,  but I know deep down our paths were meant to cross. Alison has always given me such amazing readings, but lately, her amazing intuition, insight and guidance has been invaluable to me.  Her words of wisdom, encouragement and focus will inspire me to continue my own life’s journey and achieve greater success.

In March 2007 I thought my world had ended when my husband left me with three young children after 11 years of marriage, and faced being a single parent with all its responsibilities.  However it turned out this was not my biggest challenge as the next 4 years were going to prove.

After a couple of months of my husband leaving, I found I couldn’t walk and was in severe pain and was subsequently diagnosed with Psoriasis Arthritis due to the Stress the separation had caused me.  I was put on strong medication to cope with the symptoms.  I had to give up my corporate position as a Bank Manager which I loved, to look after the children who were 2, 6 and 9 at the time.  In January 2008 my father passed away unexpectantly and we were very close, so this was devasting . I had this feeling that everyone that I loved was leaving me.  Trying to keep positive for the children was difficult.

After another email reading from Alison that told me to focus, take one step at a time, I decided that I needed to do just that and focus and prioritise my life, take control back and find a job which meant I could work from home and also be there for my children.  I decided to become a registered Child Minder, something that was so far from the corporate world I was used to, but it didn’t matter.  Things started to look up, I passed all my exams, I had loads of children to look after and things were good.

However, in November 2008 I knew something was amiss when I struggled to focus my eyes properly.  A couple of trips to the Opticians and I was told I had A1 vision.  I went to my GP in January 2009 as I had lots of double vision and they referred me to the hospital for further checks.  I was given an MRI which revealed in February 2009 that I had a Meningioma Brain Tumour.  My world had fallen apart again. How do I cope now? How do I tell my children?   In July 2009 I had 7.5 weeks of Radiotherapy.  The Tumour is too deep to remove but the good news was the Tumour is benign, however that still comes with its issues.

Later that year I decided not to give in to this Tumour.  I wrote a Bucket List of things I wanted to do with my life and I started to plan how I was going to achieve these.  One of them was to apply to go on a Game Show, and I was chosen as a contestant on Heads or Tails.  I won a large amount of money.  This was the turning point of my life and luck.  Since then I have achieved many more things on my list such as, visiting various European Cities I had not seen, gone on a Cruise, bought a new car of my choice, and most importantly I wanted to organise a big Celebrity Charity Event to raise money and awareness for my fellow Brain Tumour patients.  On November 23rd this will happen!

I am now working back in the Corporate World and I love my job.  My children are happy and settled and together we have come through some tough times, I achieved this with a Positive attitude, a Focused Mind-set and the love and understanding of my children and friends.    I am achieving my goals and aspirations with great determination and strength and hope you will be inspired to do the same.’

Angela is just one of the amazing people I have the privilidge to know, she and others like her inspire me to keep reaching out to help in any small way I can and I hope you, like me, have found her story of courage and lust for life inspiring.

Respectfully,

Alison
