Tarot by HHOriginally by Monk:- Are there any particular books or sites perhaps that anyone could recommend for me to gain more knowledge about different spreads
Are you looking for books and/or sites that have spreads or are you looking for books/sites that tell how to create spreads? If the former Annikin and David C Jones' compilation have several hundred spreads between them I do not have the URL's bookmarked, but a Google search will point you in their direction If the later perhaps Akasha will know of a book as a few weeks ago she too was looking for a book dealing with creating spreads Some of the books ihave are great however they stick usually to a couple of spreads and talk more about the cards themselves
My experience has been that creating spreads is a natural outgrowth of learning the symbology of the cards and how the symbols interact with each other After the posts i have read here i have been introduced to more information which i didn't realise or see the importance of prior to joining here
While I do depend on a few set spreads, the BEST spread to use is one that is created around the querant's question The customizing, tailoring, and creation of spreads is part and parcel of the tarot experience and experience will teach the skill Also one thing i was meaning to ask is how the same card in a different position or in a different spread can have such a different meaning Or is this purely insinuated, due to the boardering cards influence
In my tarot system each card has myriad meanings based upon the symbols it contains and my knowledge and understanding of those symbols, the language of the cards The positional attribute of any tarot card depends upon the meanings and definitions that have been ascribed to the card; to the specific question being asked; to the position that the card is in, and to the meaning assigned to that position; to the cards that follow and/or precede it, or border it; whether the card is assigned significant astrological, numerological, or cabalistic associations and the overall impression of the spread in toto:- As with customizing spreads coming to an understanding of positional attributes for the cards is a product of experience, persistence, determination, and dedication *Insinuated* is to suggest something, usually something unpleasant, in a covert, sly, and underhanded manner: while it can certainly be said that the message and the lessons delivered by the tarot are not always pleasant it is rare for those message to be sly or underhanded As for the messages/lessons being covert, it IS the tarotist’s function to make them overt It's in the cards!
