:- Hello again! I have just been reading some of the book, and it is very detailed and excellent in conveying the card meanings and discriptions! A.L
Samul, the author, goes into alot of detail to explain the imagery of each card
The major arcana have at least two pages devoted to each card, and she also discribes the four suits very well and all of the minors in detail
The most unusual inclusion in her book, is an affirmation and a prayer, which comes after she has given the card meanings and influences, she provides every card with these and at first i thought them insignificant
But when i read some of them i felt as though they were very important to the way in which a person could gain a better understanding and closeness to the cards and their meanings
For example, she discribes the Tower in great detail, pointing out the different parts of the image and the reasons behind them, she then goes on to give an upright and reversed meaning for the Tower, also she gives the planetary influences
Then she writes the affirmation which says
"I have the ability to land on my feet, no matter where i fall
I shall have the strength to begin anew" Then she writes a prayer which says
" Help me to see what is preventable in this difficult reality, so i won`t have to repeat it again
Grant me the clarity and courage to see this situation as a beginning
.a chance to bring new and joyful growth into my life" I thought this was a very profound way of gaining deeper insights into the cards, and also a comforting way of relating to each card, especially in a daily draw
Susan hudes suggests you make your own affirmations and prayers, but you can use the ones in the book if you wish
All in all i think this is going to be a welcome addition to my collection, but definately a deck and book i will want to use! Hudes Tarot Deck, by Susan Hudes, U.S
