Tarot by HHOriginally by Nathan:- Whew, okay, I'll try to explain better The 4 cards are laid from left to right the two cards in the middle are the answer to the question at hand, and the two cards, one on each side of the two in the middle, are outside influences on the answer cards It's a spread of my own, based in part on a rune spread that I picked up somewhere a while ago
Okay, fair enough It has been my experience that the clearer and more well-defined the positions are the clearer and more well-defined the messages and lessons to be found within the cards will be “Outside influences” is vague and could be anything from the weather to the neighbor… I was under the impression from book I had read in the past that starting off with the card you want to get a clearer picture about, you could get a clearer picture by doing a new reading, with the card in question staring it all off I chose to use the minor cards, as I believe they would be able to give me a bit more of a detailed view then the major cards but why is a bit tough to explain Probably because I have seen more general spreads done with the Major cards for an overview of events and the Minor cards used for more specific overview of events
My understanding of the tarot is that the cards in any given spread are a *snapshot* of the querant’s state-of-mind coupled with the circumstances as they are at the moment the cards are shuffled and place in their respective position Can you cite your source, please I think when I did the first reading about her job, I used the Robin Wood Deck But later when she wanted me to follow up about the Tower Card, I Used the Gothic Tarot I've been using both, but never for the same reading That might have been a mistake on my part
It very well could have been You could have pulled the exact cards from both decks for a comparison of the reading and perhaps come away with a clearer understanding Can you give us the details of the “Gothic Tarot’”, the publisher, artist, copyright info… The book I used for the five of swords has a few pages for each card what I read that lead me to believe I was on the right track was - I went and got the book and re-read it - and now I wonder if I looked at the right page! The meaning is the same as what I wrote earlier I'm not sure what happend there
Cite your source, please So then, could the 5-Swords falling from the deck as you shuffled, have been a warning, not for the querant but for the reader???? I don't have a written code of ethics, and I don't have a policy on third party readings at this point either I never considered that I will be looking in to that and putting some heavy thought into that
If you do a google search on tarot ethics I think you will find that most tarotists do not read the cards to garner medical opinions and that at least as many do not read for third parties CLICK HERE for some discussion of ethics She has never asked nor have I given her any medical options or insights her question only pertains to whether or not the tower card pertains to her husbands surgery and perhaps whether or not it will be successful
THAT seems to me to being asking for your insights, via the cards, on a medical procedure! The tower card to me suggests complications But as far as dispensing medical advice on that type of thing, she niether asked, nor would I be in a position to ever give any
However you said: I THINK that maybe the cards are suggesting then, that there MAY be some complications, but in the end he will pull through At this point I am going to hold off answering that until I can find a "soft" way of telling her what the cards say
From where I am standing that *looks* like an opinion and it looks for all the world as if that opinion is based on a medical procedure What in the spread made me think complications? The three of hearts and the tower (together)
BASED on the original reading I would tend to interpret those two cards as being some core belief, related to work that needs to be ferreted out and then removed from the bricks and mortar that make up the structure of the querant’s thoughts and feelings about her job—The Tower— The isolation and pain of self-discovery is ultimately worth the effort as she can then expand her horizons and move on—8-Wands, leaving the grief and some heartache—3-Swords-behind This seems to me to be the central issue, especially when coupled with the World in the first reading which indicated to me the opportunity to bring change into the workplace, not peacefully as indicated by the Tower, but necessary change The Hermit, which I would interpret in the original spread as needing more knowledge about the job description, reinforces chaotic change, and the Chariot indicates that the querant needs to move away from the influences from outside herself and learn to control her own circumstances What exactly are the cards saying? I'm not exactly sure that's why I put this post up :) I think they are saying that there may be complications with her husband but that in the end he will pull through but that's only if the second reading really IS about her husband I think the three of hearts suggests that it is
Why? Because the tableau shows a heart pierced with 3 swords? This card can also mean distraction, estrangement, annoyance, opposition, an error in thinking, a quarrel, and a hundred and one other things Also, I ask that they don't tell me the question before I do the reading only after so far, things have been going good but for the reading in question, despite not wanting to know the question up front (for my own learning purposes) she asked me up front so I went with it
Bluemoon has addressed this point so I will not belabour it I suggest you read the thread in the Learning Tarot Forum regarding questions…
