Tarot by HH

Originally by Nathan:- Hi, I need some thoughts

I am learning tarot, and while practicing at work (short fast spreads) A woman at work refered a lady from a different building in the Downtown area to me, via E-mail

I did a reading for this lady, and the Tower card came up

She wanted me to get more of a reading to see exactly what the Tower card meant specifically

Originally the reading was for her job

whether she should look for a new job or not, within the company
What spread did you use and what other cards were in the spread? What deck were you using? How did you interpret the Tower card in the spread? What influence did the other cards have on the Tower and what influence did the Tower have on the other cards? Anyway, I did a small reading this morning before work, and here is what happened

I laid the Tower card out and then used the Minor cards for the reading

while shulffling, the 5 of swords fell out

Ialways take a card that falls out as having some importance to the reading

In this case in review, I took the card as meaning that the reading was on track and that I needn't worry if it was or not (which is why I'm writting)
What was the purpose and the intent of the spread? Why did you choose to use only the Minor arcana for the reading? What are your keywords for the 5-Swords from your deck? If you had pulled the 5-Swords as your daily card or as a study card how would you have interpreted it? When I finished shuffling, I place two cards beneath the tower

first was the 8 of wands and the next was the 3 off hearts

her concern, despite the original reading being about her job, was that the tower relate to her new husband of 3 years and his up coming heart surgery

Their insurance can only afford part of the proceedure

I think only a valve where something more is needed

her fear is that the surgery will not go as planned and she will be widowed
Well…this is a dilemma

It is not infrequent that a reading moves away from what was the original question to what is the utmost question in the querant’s life

This is an extreme case and requires a great deal of tact and diplomacy

I might:- suggest that the best place to get information about medical/surgical procedures is from the physicians and surgeons who are familiar with the situation

Based on the cards, I feel that the Tower WAS relating to this surgery (3 of Hearts) but that he will (or she will) have the strength (8 of wands) to carry through whatever happens

Does this seem right?
Without knowing the spread and how the positions in the spread are defined it is difficult at best to say… Also, I have never met this woman

so I don't know her

but if I am reading these cards right, and it is about her husband and his heart surgery, I want to tell her, but at the same time I don't want to cause unnessecary worry

you know? How should I handle something like this? I have never had a reading like this where the reading is going in what seems to be such a negative direction
I cannot tell you how to handle this situation, no one can

Only you can decide how to act under these circumstances

I'm aware of course since the reading was about her job (which this surgery could affect by going bad) and since she was the one who brought this information to me, that I could be influenced by the question and her worries about something that may or may not have to do with the tower card in the original reading
Only you can address those concerns, unfortunately

The members of the forum can look at the cards in their respective positions and give you our individual opinions and as we each bring our total life experience to our understanding of the cards we may each see the cards as delivering very different messages

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Have you developed a written policy on ethics for your card readings? Do you have well-established boundaries regarding what types of questions and/or situation for which you do not read the cards? As an example, my personal code of ethics states, “I direct my querants to appropriate professionals if their questions are outside my realm of expertise

I do not use the tarot to give legal, investment, medical or psychological advice.” Wishing you well, HH Edited to add: Recently the Daily Card was the 5-Swords you can find the discussion about the cards CLICK HERE
