It seems to me that what HH is saying is that you cannot really say you are "reading the tarot" if you do not include all the cards in the tarot deck

You may be giving a reading, and that reading may help you or your client, but you are not actually "reading the tarot" without all the cards

It would be like saying you were "playing chess" if you removed the pawns or the bishops or any other piece before you started

You would not technically be playing chess, then, by definition

On the other hand, I have heard of people doing a reading using only the major arcana

This, then, could not be called "reading the tarot" either, right?
