Tarot Terminology counts by HH

Originally by anjo:- Tarot: Cards that helps us to gain insight to our thoughts or to the thoughts of the person who asks me a question; I'm not saying that I read people's minds, but the cards helps them to understand better their problems or simply their questions
However, the question I am asking you is not how you use tarot, but rather what makes a tarot deck a tarot deck and not something else

It seems that there are at least three answers based on prior responses, a historical answer, an occult answer, and your definition based on the premise that you never use the court cards

How are those cards that compose the tool you use to gain insights with sequenced and arranged? What are the component parts of a deck of cards that can be described as tarot? I also have a definition of HOW I use tarot, but that is separate and distinct from what makes a deck of cards TAROT as opposed to an oracular deck
