Tarot by Mystipreviously by bluemoon:- would you be so kind as to explain what is meant by ill-aspected or poorly aspected? Is that reversed? Or is it appearing in a spread with what Joan Bunning calls "opposing cards"?* Or something else?
I agree with Happy's response About Joan Bunning's theory of "opposing cards", yes that would be one way of determining how the cards are aspected in relationship to each other In her system, some cards support and validate each others energies and some weaken or block each others energies I did take Joans Course last year, but I don't use her system of opposing cards One of the things I use is the system of elements to determine that, along with pairs, positions, and other little signals For instance: Fire needs Air to burn, Air fans the Fire and makes it burn more brightly therefore they are compatible and strengthen each other Water drowns Fire, Fire turns Water to steam therefore they weaken or block each other Earth contains water, Water replenishes Earth therefore they are compatible and some even say neutral Fire Scorches Earth, Earth smothers Fire therefore they are incompatible and weaken each other Air and Earth are Neutral (I learned this system from a woman who read Tarot and tealeaves when I was a young woman, and it always stuck in my mind ) There are other elemental systems not just this one There are other issues as well Like are the suits balanced or not? Are there a lot of Majors? Are there no Majors? Is any element not represented? Are their pairs and triplets, or even four of a number card? I think we all come upon what works for us, and we learn to see it in our spreads Sometimes it just jumps out at us For a little more information, go here Unless he's changed something, his system and the one I learned are not quite the same but it gives you an idea of how it works You can probably find many sites with information of the elemental aspects by doing a google search
