Tarot by HH

Originally by Celeste:- I found the pentacles reasonably understandable, and as i was studying the suit, i felt as though physical and material possessions is only part of this suit, and that the connection with the element of earth, tells us to be mindful of our own physical well being, aswell as our material well being

(I`m not sure if i`m making much sense here!)
Makes sense to me! In my tarot system this suit is associated with that which is physical and tangible including the physical body

The cards that struck me most were, the 10 of pentacles, see it as financial and/or spiritual wealth, the coming together of a loving and traditional family and receiving an inheritance of great value, which could be sentimental as well as material gain
Interesting to me is the similarities in the RWS-variants of the 10-Pentacles and the 10-Cups

.some of the earliest DM's for the 10-Pentacles are somewhat different that most contemporary meanings: Fate, Ignorance, Chance, Destiny, Destined, Inevitability

Fortunate or Unfortunate Occasion

Through the end of the 1950's one of the DM's for this card was gambling, others were fatality and dowry! The 5 of pentacles is absolutely the reversed!
Those potential disruptive 5's! In most decks that i`ve seen, this card is represented against a backdrop of a barren land and/or improvished, desperate and sad looking people! My deck is no different! It shows a barren desert (somewhere in egypt!) and a young man sits head bowed, too proccupied to notice in the background a group of wild dogs circling and worrying a tethered cow! five empty clay dishes surround him
The five empty vessels echo the five empty cups in the RWS-variants! Is this coincidence or did the artist plan the similarities? The scene speaks for itself, and does so brillantly in my view, utter despair and anxiety a loss of income and/or status and a feeling of lonliness, i think it could also be saying the person has lost faith in themselves, because they cannot see a way out of their difficulties, and may just want to give up
Again there is a contrast with some of the older DMs that designated this card a love, cherish, a gallant gentleman and a refined lady; paramour

The positive side (if there is one!), to this card may be to take stock and review the circumstances which led to this situation there may be a way out, provided a new attitude is adopted, perhaps, a fresh start on an inner level is needed first, to enable the person to get back on track? If this is done things may begin to get better?
Or merely that like all other things in life and tarot this to shall pass! In many instances this 5 indicates that in order to find assistance we first need to assist ourselves

I think your insights are right on! Good job! It's in the cards! HH
