Tarot My Wish List

by Celeste

Hi Bluemoon, What a fab idea! Well, i have many, many, tarot decks and book sets to keep me going for a while! But on my list is 3 books which have been recommended

The Complete Illustrated Guide to Tarot, by Rachel Pollack, Element books 1999, ISBN 1862042128

I am keen to get this book because i heard it contains the origins, history, stucture and symbolism of tarot, also the illustrations are suberb and lots of different cards are used! I have also heard that Rachel Pollack is widely respected in the tarot world and all her books are good

The second book on my list is also by Rachel Pollack

Seventy eight degrees of wisdom, HarperCollins 1997, ISBN 0722535724, Again this book is rich in symbolism, and goes deeper into the origins, i think the time is right for me to begin to explore the symbolism of the cards, something which i have not done yet, but i feel will give me a greater understanding, during my studies

I believe that Rachel Pollack`s books do delve into meanings of symbols etc, on the cards, and i am now ready to learn this

My third book is one which has been mentioned alot on this forum

Tarot Plain and Simple, by Anthony Louis, with illustrations by Robin Wood, Llewellyn publications 2002, ISBN 1-56718-400-6

I do have the deck which is refered to in this book aswell, and i have heard this is a very good book, detailed meanings are given for the cards and also different spreads, also it goes into astrology, which is interesting aswell

I believe it also gives keywords and phrases, although i`m not sure, just heard that, but the book sounds very readable!! So for the moment that is what my wish list consists of

.no doubt one or maybe two tarot decks will find their way onto the list!! But i am concentrating on obtaining more tarot books, i DO love to read them, i find different authors opinions and experience an absolute joy to read and i love the knowledge that falls from the pages!! (and hopefully into my brain!) P.S

HH, i know you are into symbols, so would you have any book recommendations for a beginner to read and understand, also would the rachel pollack books be adequate for explaining symbolism?
