Tarot Wish Lists by bluemoonHi! Every now and then, a forum member says something along the lines of 'ah, that's on my wish list' I thought, then, that it might be an idea to start a thread on our wish lists What is on your wish list in terms of Tarot decks, books or, indeed, other paraphernalia? Just as importantly, could you say why? When you have constructed your list, take out trump no 17 from one of your existing decks and make a wish upon it You never know! I'll start Decks Tarot de Paris J Philip Thomas Connections(2002) ISBN: 1859060765 As I understand it, the concept behind this deck is that the author took hundreds upon hundreds of photographs of the art, architecture and statuary of Paris, France and then created the cards by assembling photo-montages, matching his knowledge of the Tarot with the imagery and symbolism inherent to or suggested by the Parisian monuments I have a long-standing personal and professional interest in France and Paris is a city I've visited many, many times and whose history and culture I have studied I have:- to have this deck Whether it works as Tarot or not remains to be seen It may well be more art than Tarot (not that the two are mutually exclusive, of course) but even so Gill Tarot Elizabeth Josephine Gill U S Games (2003) ISBN: 0880799641 From afar, that is to say on the Internet, the pictures in this deck seem quite attractive and slightly offbeat The colours are vibrant and the images speak It looks like a deck I could work with (although I am slightly put off by the tree of life symbolism about which I am totally ignorant) Also interesting are the minor arcana which are pictures constructed around the suit symbols intertwined with the numeral of the card itself Each minor arcana card also carries a single keyword Some might find the keyword idea intrusive but those I have seen in this deck really say a lot to me (e.g rest for 4 swords, speed for 8 wands, success for 10 pentacles, etc ) Cosmic Tarot Deck Norbert Losche U S Games (1998) ISBN: 0880793953 This is another of those decks whose images just speak to me The colours are muted pastels but not dull at all and the characters and scenes depicted are very rich The people portrayed are meant to be representations of movie stars but that is not an aspect of this deck that attracts me at all; it is rather the quality of the images and the fact that, once again, I feel:- as though I can work with the deck By way of example, I defy anyone to look upon the high priestess in this deck and not be moved by the mysterious and haunting gaze of this beautiful figure and to wonder exactly what is:- the knowledge that she is guarding Books Learning the Tarot Joan Bunning Red Wheel/Weiser (1998) ISBN: 1578630487 I have heard many good reports about this book, not least of all from other members of this forum It is apparently ideal for beginners but also contains enough nuggets of information and insight to keep the more experienced happy, too I know there is an older version of the work on the Internet here but you can't beat holding the real thing in your hands The Encyclopędia of Tarot Stuart R Kaplan United States Games Systems (2003) ISBN: 0913866369 I love encyclopędias, dictionaries, atlases, reference books I could easily envisage many hours of dipping into such a work and this one looks, at first sight, to be very comprehensive and informative So, what's at the top of your wish list?
