Tarot 3-Swords by HHCeleste, excellent evaluation! Along with trump # 5 this card proved the most difficult for me to develop a personal understanding Mystical tradition tells us that the heart is not symbolic of where emotions abide, but rather is symbolic of the necessity of contemplation of one’s spiritual life Notions of spiritual rebirth are associated with the heart The Sufi mystic al-Hallâj tells us that hearts are the organs of spiritual sights and insights, “I have seen my lord in the Heart’s eye.” The Koran uses the heart as a synonym for knowledge as does other religious texts And what of swords? What is the symbology of swords? As the outward symbol of a warrior its associated virtue is valour and its office is power Does the sword destroy? Certainly Does it destroy without arbitrarily? No, the person wielding the sword is the arbitrator The sword also symbolizes the _holy war_, but not as jihad, rather as the war we all wage within ourselves The sword is further the symbol of speech and of the Word In my tarot system Swords are associated with the intellect and the ability to conceptualize and to communicate the idea to others and elemental Air Threes in my system are associated with manifestations and synthesis So then, my interpretation of the 3-Swords at least at this moment is piercing the heart to let the pain out and to open the way for knowledge and comprehension leading to a manifestation of understanding through communication…
It’s in the cards!
