Okay…with a bit of distance let me look at the rationale for the cards… What card(s) best represent me when I am paying my bills? Four of Pentacles and/or Seven of Wands or Seven of Swords (opps, not safeguarding the future!) 4-Pentacles-I sometimes feel just like the guy in the RWS-variant decks, I want to hold those dollars close and yes, I am a bit penurious

7-Wands, I can feel embattled when I am paying taxes or insurance, or licensing fees…7-Swords when I have overextended my budgetary restraints, and have to play catch-up

What card(s) best represent me when I give myself a gift? Four of Cups Six of Swords Six of Wands or any of the Aces 4-Cups I have learned to see gifts in some very unexpected places…one of the gifts I give myself is to spend 30 minutes every morning, regardless the season or the weather, sitting in the shelter of our walled garden listening, really listening to the world around me

6-Swords, the greatest gift I give to myself is the few moments of respite when my day “out-there” in the rough waters of the world has ended and my boat enters the quiet lagoon of home

6-Wands because I do feel like I am riding high when I gift myself with an art book, or a book or photographs, or a new tarot deck! Every gift is a new beginning, a new opportunity, a new perspective, thus the Aces

What card(s) best represent me when I am in control of a project at work? King of Swords or Eight of Wands or Nine of Cups King of Swords for the pleasure of clarity and purpose being in control brings, 8-Wands for the energy of actions being undertaken, 9-Cups for the pleasant self-satisfaction

What card(s) best represent me when I plan a romantic interlude with my other? Four of Wands Six of Swords 4-Wands as time spent with my beloved are always a celebration and a time of leaving the storms of life behind and coming into smooth sailing (6-Swords) What card(s) best represent me when I am daydreaming? Seven of Cups and/or Page of Cups or Page of Pentacles The 7-Cups for its association with flights of fancy and fantasy, the Pages for their totally immersion in the emblems of their respective suits

What card(s) best represent me when I am giving a Tarot reading? Queen of Cups and/or Two of Cups Queen of Cups for her association with creativity, her ability to see the secrets of Nature, and her untrammeled sense of love and loving

The 2-Cups for its association with honesty communication

What card(s) best represent me when I am attending to a family member who is ill? Queen of Wands or Two of Pentacles The Queen of Wands for knowing her passion and not being reticent about expressing it and for her sense of purposeful activity, the 2-Pentacles, as being a caregiver is a juggling act

What card(s) best represent me when I am off by myself and just enjoying the peacefulness? Nine of Pentacles and/or 2 of Swords 9-Pentacales for the sense of serenity and quietude many of the RWS-variants bring, and the 2-Swords for the analysis and ability to shut out the world the RWS-variant images bring

What card(s) best represent me when I run into an old friend? Six of Cups OR Five of Wands (!) or Knight of Pentacles 6-Cups the card of nostalgia, 5-Wands for the sense of guarding and being on-guard and being vigilant to both opportunity and necessity of sparring

The Knight of Pentacles for his somewhat laid-back and unaffected attitude, his steed is under his control and he knows where he is going and how to get there, he is merely awaiting motivation

It's in the associations! HH
