Tarot by bluemoonHi! In the Mythic Tarot,* my learning deck, the suit of cups is portrayed via the Greek mythological narrative of Psyche and Eros This is the classic love story, complete with trials, tribulations and the proverbial happy ending As such, I think it is ideal to represent the suit that stands for emotional matters, affairs of the heart, feelings and values With regard to cards that particularly caught my eye, I think I should like to return to the 8, which was the subject of some discussion earlier in this forum The 8 here shows Psyche descending to the underworld, sent there by the goddess Aphrodite as a test in return for her help in winning back Eros I think the 8, therefore, is a dark and sorrowful card representing something sad that has to be done, a lonely journey, an abandonment of hope, the resignation of leaving something behind and the melancholy that that brings with it *The Mythic Tarot J Sharman-Burke and L Greene Cards illustrated by T Newell Workbook published by Rider/Eddison-Sadd, 2001 edition ISBN 0 7126 1473 7
