Tarot Are your readings too positive? by Mysti
I’ve had that pointed out to me at times when I have shared my views of the cards in groups
(Not this group, btw
) I am one of those people who tends to see life’s difficulties as an opportunity to make lemonade rather than as full of overwhelming crises
People who really know me are aware that my life has been fraught with serious situations, and that I am no novice to hard-times
I also find it more difficult to recite the meaning of a card in text without it being applied to a specific situation or question, and therefore my meanings probably seem to have no real depth to them
The meanings change in relationship to the other cards, the person asking the question, and the positional attributes, as well as my intuitive factor coming into play
When I do a reading for someone, I consider it my responsibility to advise my querant in the most constructive way I can
For instance, if I see that total chaos is on the horizon as indicated by the Tower and another change card such as Death, I tend to remind the person that change is a necessary thing, and that very often once we get down the road far enough we can look back and see that the change was for our own good
I feel that is a healthier way to direct that energy than to say something like, OMG your whole life is falling apart
At the same time, I don’t varnish the truth of what I see
I only try to direct it constructively by reminding the person that the outcome can often be changed by heeding the advice in the lay
Many times, the person I’m reading for has pondered the cards, and told me
“I think I know what this means”, and then done an excellent job of intuiting how that card applies to their situation
I am so often amazed at what people already know before they ask
So, I’m wondering if anyone else has had it suggested to them that they are too “fluffy” with their view of the cards? If so, do you agree with them?
