Here's a book I found really helpful when I began astrology
It's called "The Practical Astrologer" by Nicholas Campion
It summarizes Sun signs, planets, planets in signs, how to cast a chart by hand, how to interpret it, progress it, etc
It's basic but comprehensive and not at all overwhelming

Magician is a Sagittarius and a bit of a comedian I think
