I have to agree with bluemoon about images on all the cards, it really makes so much difference especially for us beginners!! I have no experience of the witches tarot so i can`t help you there
But maybe to help you with alison`s course you should consider using a more user friendly deck to start with and when you become more experienced change to a themed deck? The Fool to me (from universal waite deck) brings to mind: innocence, adventure,new beginnings and courage to take that first step into the unknown
