Tarot by bluemoonHi Caz and welcome! This is a great place to post and chat More importantly, there are a lot of kind and knowledgeable people on the forum, too Mmmm, I see your problem; all you have to go on is a suit symbol and a number Now, if you know what the conventional meanings of these are, then you could make a start but the whole point about being a beginner (like me) is that you don't Plus I read Alison's first exercise as one in which we were to let our intuition do the talking For me (using the Mythic Tarot) and, I think, for Celeste (using the Universal Waite), this was quite satisfying and rewarding because all the cards have an image, a scene, a story or characters on them Assuming the cards are well-drawn and assuming you are in the right frame of mind, then contemplating these scenes generates a series of words, ideas and concepts that - hopefully - are related to the cards' conventional meanings (and more besides) As a newcomer, I still feel I need that bit of extra guidance that illustrated decks provide As for the Fool, some of the associations I got for that card are: risk, danger, reckless, the journey ahead, starting out, beginnings, simplicity and naivety, fearless, there is no cliff, the cave is boring, he has to go, he does not need to be careful Best wishes
