Tarot by HHOriginally by robert:- There is no formal structure beyond perhaps a loose past present and future grouping is this really a tarot reading The meanings also change for the cards depending on the patterns that form Should I even call these tarot readings? [/quote] Let me ask you this: if I go to China and take a road trip and I do not either read Chinese or understand Chinese, but I use my intuition to see the pattern in the road sign and then interpret those patterns as directions am I reading:- sign posts? The argument regarding what constitutes a tarot reading has raged without resolve since the time of Etteilla There is not likely to be a consensus soon I consider the symbols of the cards to be the language of the cards: in turn language is a cultural system that is used to communicate, and with use language develops and influences the standards of communication within a community It is through the standard that members of the community can communicate:- their thoughts, feelings, desires, needs, etc Tarot is a cultural system and it has a standard If we do not utilize the system and the standard can we be part of the community, are we using the language of tarot? Can you give us an example of how you read the cards, how you interpret the symbols of the cards? The tarot has another language as well, jargon: the *special* language used by tarotist to communicate with other tarotists Nearly every tarotist will understand what another tarotist means when by 5-Cups, 7-Swords, 9-Wands, 6-Penatacles Now, not understanding what you mean when you say "patterns forming" it is hard to comment on that portion of your posting Do you mean the patterns of the symbols and how they influence one another ,or do you mean the way the cards are laid out, or do you mean something far different?
It's in the cards! HH
