Tarot by Satina

Originally by HH:- Originally by Satina:- Hi Chesed and others, I was thinking, and what if for your first paid reading, if you're nervous about asking for money, you just ask for a donation
Personally I think it is a mistake to ask for donations based upon the premise of "whatever the querant felt the reading was worth

" When I go to get my haircut I do not pay the cosmetician what I feel the service was worth, when I go to dinner I do not pay what I felt the meal was worth

.check around and see what the going rate for a reading in your locale is

Decide if you are going to charge a flat rate, an hourly rate, or a card rate

TELL your clients what your rates and do not undervalue either yourself or your services

Keep in mind the adage, " You get what you pay for

" Ask for what you are worth! HH
I guess I was coming from the place of feeling that sometimes we are of much more worth to someone than we know

I charge a sliding scale for my Reiki/Metaphysical Counseling, of $60, $75, or $90, whichever the client feels they can afford

I'm also open to barter

And rather than giving up altogether, I felt this was a compromise that might lead to less tension about the first reading

Ultimately we each have to decide for ourselves

(I remember being thrilled when someone would pay me a buck to read their palm, though

;) That was fifteen years ago in college
