Tarot by HHOriginally by kaiser:- So basicly the only differents is the apperance?! Okay
NO! The appearance of the deck is only one part of what goes into creating a tarot deck: the philosophy of the genre of decks varies greatly The antique decks were created for gaming The occult decks are based on any of several premises and are usually:- crafted around one of the AAN(alpho-astro-numeric) premises prevalent during the mid-to-late 1800's Modern decks are frequently based on the OGDs (Order of the Golden Dawn) correspondences, The RWS and the Crowley-Harris Thoth deck and the BOTA deck all use the OGD correspondences but they are very different decks philosophically, as well as artistically Theme decks may or may not be based on an AAN scheme, but they each have a definite and specific tarot philosophy that may or may not correspond to the theme being portrayed Most post-modern decks reject the OGD correspondences Therir creators tend to incorporate esoterica from the first half of the 20th century and embrace post-modern philosophy Most of the feminist decks fall into this category As I have stated elsewhere in these forums, more important to me than the art of any deck, is the underlying philosophy of that deck, the inherent correspondences, and whether the symbology and iconography relate to how I use tarot I know I am entititled to my opinion but that does not mean I wish to hurt anyones felling Nobody likes to be called studid
My feelings are not that fragile It's in the cards!
