Tarot Niki De Saint Phalle by startide
Perhaps everybody already knows about the Tarot Garden in Garavicchio, Italy -- if not, you're in for a major treat! A French artist, Niki De Saint Phalle, has created an amazing bigger-than-lifesize garden of scultptures, one for each of the Major Arcana
They are colourful, imaginative works formed in concrete, then covered in glass, ceramic and mirrors that were created specially for this project
Niki De Saint Phalle selected a team of artists, each for their work in various media, and brought them to the site to complete each sculpture according to his vision
I would love to visit this garden someday, for the visitor not only looks at the sculptures, but also experiences them
You can walk through it, in it, climb around it, and watch it change like a kaleidescope with the passing light
Nearby plants and the distant countryside all play a part, too, for this garden is truly a work that considers its context
It is an extraordinary creation; and at the heart of its passion is the artist's understanding of each card
