Originally by Venus Sky:- Hi everybody Im new to tarot: a clairvoyant told me that my tarot card for the next year was the lovers, and usually thats a good sign right ? But Ive read on some sites that it can be bad too

Can anyone advise me on this ?
I can offer you my opinion, will that do? How did the clairvoyant determine your year’s card? Did she use a numerological reduction of your birth date? Or did she consult the cards to make the determination? Or did she (used without gender…) use her perception through her clairvoyant sensitivities? What did the clairvoyant tell you about the card? Background info: The clairvoyant used the 22 major arcana tarot cards

And the lovers card (which she gave to me! which I thought was unusual ) had a picture of a cupid, above a man choosing between two women,
Do you, by chance, know what deck your card is from? The tableau is not unusual in trump # 6, especially in the antique decks

Does the card contain any astrological sigils or other markings? (Im female) but I assumed that it referred to me choosing between two men

Have I got this wrong?
One of the things about tarot that appeals to me on a base level, is that there are very few rights of wrongs in tarot: there are a great many opinions, suppositions, arguments and counter-arguments

Some sites and books say its about choosing the right lover/person, one is good and one is bad
Could the choice being presented in the tarot’s Lovers be about something besides two potential mates? Could the choice be about truth versus dishonesty, vice versus virtue, or could the tableau be about learning discrimination, or maybe even healing the breach between people and learning cooperation? Could this card be about reconciliation and reciprocity? Many times this card is about confusion and being unsure of how to proceed, what direction to take, how to get there from here

I would see inner conflict and lack of self-awareness

Although it may indicate a problem with a relationship, or choosing a partner, that is not necessarily so: the relationship of import would be with self

What do you think ?
"A lover, when he is admitted to cards, ought to be solemnly silent, and observe the motions of his mistress

He must laugh when she laughs, sigh when she sighs

In short, he should be the shadow of her mind

A lady, in the presence of her lover, should never want a looking-glass; as a beau, in the presence of his looking-glass, never wants a mistress

" Henry Fielding Thanks ! Venus Sky (Ps Im single at the moment

)
It’s in the cards! HH
